Welcome to AIGJCON IPS 2017

“From Small Molecule Medicines To Biologics – Shifting Paradigm in Drug Therapy”

50th Annual Inaugural Golden Jubilee conference of Indian Pharmacological Society (AIGJCONIPS2017) will be held at Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Sheikhpura, Patna, Bihar, India. We eagerly await for your auspicious presence.

The story of the birth of the Indian Pharmacological Society (IPS) dates back to 1966 when a large number of pharmacologists guided by Prof. G. Achari, Prof. B. Uvnas and Prof. Desmond Lawrence resolved to start an independent body for pharmacologists in the 12th Annual Conference of Association of Physiologists and Pharmacologists of India (APPI) held at Patna. Same year the first Annual Conference of IPS under the able leadership of Prof. G.Achari was held at Patna and inaugurated by  Prof. B. Uvnas of Karolinska Institute, Sweden & former president of IUPHAR. Nearly centuplicate delegates from all parts of the country elected the first Executive Committee comprising Col. G.S.Ram Nath Chopra as President, Prof.U.K.Sheth as General Secretary, Prof. G. Achari as Treasurer and Prof.K.P .Bhargava as Editor. Since its birth , Indian Pharmacological Society (IPS) had crossed many hurdles and reaches many dimensions.

Present Patna, the modern incarnation of Patliputra is taking a turn and is developing fast under the able leadership of Honourable Chief Minster, Mr. Nitish Kumar, offering a unique blend of vibrant modern city along with glorious historical past. Patna makes an ideal base for the visitors to venture out to a large number of places of historical and religious importance. Holy River Ganga, Birth place of Guru Govind Singh jee – Harmandir Sahib, Patan Devi, famous Golghar, Sher shah Suri Makabara, Budh Smriti park, Kumharar archaeological site, Patna Museum, famous Khudabaksh Library, Eco park, Gandhi Maidan are some of eye catching areas of Patna. Following the tradition of 1966 IPS conference, the Silver Jubilee conference was held in 1992 at Sri Krishna Medical College, Muzaffarpur, Bihar, with Prof. (Dr.) Saket Bihari Pandey as the organizing secretary, who made it a huge success with more than 50 foreign delegates and over 600 Indian delegates accommodated in the less known small town of Muzaffarpur, which will always be memorised for its great hospitality. Keeping the above rhythm alive the Golden jubilee celebration is commencing from IGIMS, Patna and we promised to deliver the best hospitality as our tradition of IPS Conference ever had.
